Charter Schools

Charter schools are public schools operating under a contractual agreement or a "charter" with the local school board. This charter contract frees them from many regulations created for traditional public schools while holding them accountable for academic and financial results. In addition, the charter contract between the charter school governing board and the sponsor details the school's mission, program, goals, students served, methods of assessment, and ways to measure success.

As part of the state's program of public education, charter schools offer innovative programs consistent with educational goals established by Florida Statutes. Parents interested in this option should contact the charter school directly about application procedures.
